The vowels are going back in Abrdn

The asset manager Standard Life Aberdeen attracted widespread derision in 2021 when it rebranded itself as Abrdn and announced that the name would be pronounced … Aberdeen. https://languagemiscellany.com/2021/07/standard-life-aberdeen-becomes-abrdn/

The company has evidently had enough of this now. It has decided to rename itself aberdeen group plc. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cz9nkeg79gyo

The announcement is buried in the latest financial results and says: “This is a Group to be proud of, with a promising future. We will deliver by looking forward with confidence and removing distractions. To that end, we are changing our name to aberdeen group plc. This is a pragmatic decision marking a new phase for the organisation, as we focus on delivering for our customers, people and shareholders.”

I suppose they want to distant themselves a little from the past, and also avoid confusion with the city of Aberdeen. But using lower case throughout the new name might cause them more grief.
